The Green Coffee Bean Project
In the past, Dr. Oz conducted an informal study with volunteers from his studio audience to determine if green coffee bean extract worked.
He selected 100 women between the ages of 35 and 49 with a Body Mass Index (a measure of fat based on height and weight) of 25 to 45. To be considered for the project, the women could not be pregnant or breastfeeding, have diabetes, or have a history of heart attack or stroke.
Half the women received a green coffee bean extract supplement, and the other half received a placebo. They were instructed to take one capsule 30 minutes before each meal.
The participants did not know whether they were taking the supplement or a placebo, and they were instructed to keep a food journal and NOT change their diet.
After two weeks, the participants were weighed and measured. The group of women on the placebo lost an average of one pound, most likely due to keeping a food journal and being more aware of their diet. The women who took the supplement lost an average of two pounds.
That’s an average of a pound a week! Pretty amazing. And that was without changing their diet or exercise patterns.

Further Tips and Suggestions
- Get off all dairy! – Dairy was meant to fatten a baby cow, not you! Drop the cheese and sour cream, as both are concentrated milk products.
